In the year 2000, in August, I created this site, Soropositivo.Org, and to give the impression that there was “a working team” I finished the
greeting with “the entire seropositivo.org team”.
The fact is that there was not, at the time, and until today, there was no "team".
Here is a partnership: God and me… And sometimes, me and God…
But this was my first editorial for December 1 of 2000 and I think the year of 2020 could come without a year with the resumption of "certain struggles". One step forward, two back, for surely silence will be equal to death!
I've been keeping quiet, but it's worried silence, and although I have another post for today,
December 1 of 2019, we need to put certain facts back in front of everyone, because we need to wake up some more people.
A few years ago, one of the people I respect most in the fight against the HIV / AIDS epidemicAIDS, Beatriz Pacheco, made a post on Facebook, then saying that the August 2000 text was still current!
I am afraid to say that time has advanced chronologically, but it has become even more "like" what this text showed and shows.
The Will of PECar
So much so, that I decided to republish one more, a brilliant jurist, Sandro Sardá. This will come in a few hours.
I maintain on my blog that there life with HIV. And there really is.
However, it is good that we start thinking about maintaining the Status Quo of constitutional rights already guaranteed, at a time when the will to "Sin.
And I learned that this is a day of struggle with someone I have done some services for and, in his words, chose not to accept my friendship.
Yeah, he seems to have considered it inefficient (maybe he's a Borg, I don't know). Maybe I am unpleasant. I dont know. Maybe the relationship with me is not enriching, who cares…?
Each one knows the pain and delight of being what he is.
I do not knock twice on a person's door with this intention a second time. And I don't really like the idea of reconsidering other people's decisions that made me feel pain. Moral Pain, for me, is enough that of peripheral neuropathy that, besides being chronic, seems to me irremediable.
The other pains…
What has been achieved can be undermined in, say, a "pen" or two, and I don't know who of us will have to start this fight again. Years ago I broke up a * friendship * with a person who evidently showed against the treatment of seropositive persons, in a "conversation" whose content was something like this:
- “Brazil is the only country that sponsors".
- “Based on this line, for you, me and Mara, dead, it makes no difference” !?
- “Let's not hit head on”…
- “We already hit”….
Then I blocked it on MSN Messenger. Unfortunately it is a mere sample of a “collective thinking”(…) And, I bet, he's still alive!
Here follows the text, Ipsis Literis
Morning December 1 of 2000 "celebrates" the world day of fight against AIDS.
TV stations will not talk about anything else; radio stations and newspapers. After, the subject falls, again, into oblivion.
We sing this day, many victories. Tvemos same, with the active participation of communities and Non Governamenais many victories:
There are more drugs, tests are more accurate; research about vaccines have progressed a lot.
People living with HIV live longer and with a higher quality of life…
December first is more than that
I am forced to disagree with the higher quality of life.
Quality of life of life is not to be in good health, the costs of medicines.
Quality of life is up in the morning and face a bus, subway or train and get to work, perform a function, go to lunch with friends and go over some five hours of fighting and, therefore, plan ahead.
Quality of Life Is Something More
Quality of life is not having to hide the disease for fear of being discriminated against is not having to hide like a criminal just because a port virus.
Quality of life is to dream of a better future, to own a home, with marriage, family life.
And the foundation of all this is the right to work, plus the right to health and equality.
Our life can not remain a summary boxes of medicines and laboratory tests.
Our life can not be lived in orbit of illness or seropositivity.
The profile of patients with HIV has changed, and changed for the better.
Have not die as often. We are no longer hospitalized many times, have not developed the disease and, in fact, we are strong and healthy, able to work and social life.
December First Is A Day To Charge Rights
There was an error early in the epidemic:
It was attributed to a specific group of people whose conduct society has the habit of reproving without knowing it.
Expressions such as gay plague, gay cancer, risk groups have been created. All wrong, liars, discriminatory. All stigmatizers. And no one undoes this error. Everyone acts as if nothing had happened.
HIV Does Not Discriminate
AIDS is not privilege of a few. HIV is very little selective when choosing your host.
Whites, blacks, Indians, heterosexual women, children, gay, bisexual, either.
Anyone can get HIV and, if different, to develop AIDS.
But the great majority, when it discovers, enters in treatment, recovers the health!
And is able to drive “a normal life ”, like that of any person.
But this is denied us. If an employer finds out you have an HIV your staff, dismisses him under any pretext to get rid of future problems, which are only theoretical.
December 1 Almost A Day of “Settling Accounts”
This is because the employer does not want to take the risk of facing all the burden of the disease alone:
Admissions, licensing, to control absences, etc..
All this causes the HIV carrier is considered an employee, an unattractive worker.
We must change that, creating tax incentives to those who employ the HIV-positive.
Unemployed, we are a social burden. We depend on the public assistance, almost always precarious, of our families, almost always of low income, and our life loses in quality and expectation.
Employees, take care better for our health, consume more, pay taxes and live happy, productive and independent.
December First Is For This: The Employee / Employee Relationship Relationship / Government Needs to Change.
The Worst Symptom Is Prejudice
No point in creating an endless number of laws that forbid employers to dismiss HIV-positive; ha laws and laws prohibiting an endless number of things and they keep happening, even prohibited. Or a law banning drug trafficking ended up with the traffic?
On the contrary, instead of simply “protect” the person with HIV, through legal provisions, laudable of course, that punish the company and / or person who incur the crime of discrimination, we must encourage the employer to maintain, through tax benefits, as already said, and by setting up a bank of hours, O HIV-positive and fit to work in his or her usual post.
Craft fairs, I insist, do not solve anything. Not all people have the manual ability to do this or are interested in such an occupation. And every person has the right to exercise his profession, which he learned to develop with his own merits and effort, often diuturno. THE serological condition does not undo these merits. The manner in which the individual "caught" the virus should also not enter the issue, as it does not change for better or worse the quality of the professional in question. It must always remain the condition of being human, worthy of respect, not pity, above all else.
Meanwhile, society accurate be made aware of the security of living with the HIV patient through the media.
The press in general owes this to the population, in their inform and clarify.
The awareness campaigns should be jackpots for those who understands the subject, for those who live it and who knows the subject thoroughly.
A social vision of AIDS is wrong. We do not die like flies. And we do not transmit the disease through the air, by handshake or social contact.
Sexual intercourse must be protected; but it's not to avoid “just AIDS” (as if the rest didn't matter), is to prevent syphilis, gonorrhea, hepatitis, condyloma acuminata and a myriad of STDs.
As or more dangerous than HIV infection. What's more, it avoids unwanted pregnancy or, worse, teenage pregnancy.
The first Victim of Unwanted Pregnancy is the Girl who becomes a mother.
The teenage mother is hardly ever back in school and this is the great beginning of the structural violence that thrives on women. You mother need to talk to your daughter.
DIALOGUE IS NECESSARY Text continues after video
This social view on AIDS needs to be right, corrected. Only the mass media, in partnership with non-governmental organizations and the government, can repair this damage caused by themselves and the scientific community at a time when there was very little light on the problem.

December First Is For This: We Remember What We Are And Reinforce What We Achieve.
Then look in the personal testimonials section for the stories of women who have contracted their husbands virus and who open their hearts here, in the hope that this will not happen again…
Os Paladins of God are on the loose
AIDS is everyone's problem, without possible distinction of gender or “way of life”. But it is no longer the death sentence or the “vengeance of God” (…).
And it is possible to change these things with awareness and clarification, information and goodwill and empathy.
Of all the symptoms of AIDS the worst of them still remains, after thirty-so-many years, when most have TV and Internet access, the prejudice.
Something I try mirror me….
